A One-of-a-Kind Airbnb in Montana
One of the most unique stays I have ever experienced thus far in my lifetime.
I have to give all the credit to my husband Andrew on finding this one, so special shoutout to him. We stayed here one night of our Glacier National Park trip in August 2022. The views we experienced and the overall peacefulness of the location is what will sell you on this one, I guarantee it. Staying here was a beautiful, one-of-a-kind experience we will never forget. This Airbnb is located in Bigfork, Montana on Flathead River, which isn't that far away from Glacier National Park. To access the Airbnb, we had to drive to a small park to meetup with the Airbnb host. Here is where we parked our car for the night. The host met us at the dock located in the park area, and took us on his motorboat to the Airbnb. From the dock's launch point, the Airbnb was around 1.25 miles down the river. The Airbnb, "Hope Floats," was placed in a little cove, so there was a great amount of privacy, and I think this contributed heavily to the peacefulness. The occasional boater or fisherman would pass by but other than that, and a little farm in the distance, there weren't really many people around the area. Hope Floats had all the necessary amenities needed: a comfy queen sized bed, a restroom, shower, water, towels, bug spray, etc. It had an amazing rooftop deck with a propane firepit, two lounge chairs, and a wine glass holder with wine glasses included. You also had two kayaks included with your stay, that you could use to float on the river. The kayaks were how you would get back to the dock at check out.
When we arrived at Hope Floats, Andrew did a little swimming while I did some reading. We played card games and enjoyed the opportunity to relax after the long hikes we had done the previous days before. As the sun started to set, we made our way to the top deck to watch the sunset. The sunset was gorgeous. I could have sat on the top deck all night watching the sunset and star gazing. When it came time to head to bed, I at first was concerned with how well I would sleep, but because it was so quiet I slept pretty peacefully. The bed was also very comfy. The mosquito net and tarp around the bed also helped in terms of peacefulness.
In the early morning when we woke up it was in the lower 50s, so just a bit chilly. It was nice however, because it gave us a good reason to take full advantage of the firepit on the top deck. This is where some marshmallows would have come in handy (hint: Andrew). We woke up early enough to see a great sunrise. The water was very calm and it seemed like we were the only people awake and about. After soaking in the sunrise, we made the kayak back to the dock to wish some family off that were leaving Montana that morning. The kayak trip was a small arm workout, but it provided beautiful sights.
If you are ever in the Bigfork area I definitely recommend staying here for a night.
