The Best Trip Along 30A
Spring Break of March 2023
This trip was so peaceful, relaxing, and the most fun! My husband and I usually have an itinerary of things we want to do when we go on trips, but for this one we went with the flow for the most part. We had one restaurant on our list of to-dos, and we knew we wanted to rent bikes to explore the area. Everything else we decided along the way. Everything from where we stayed, the beaches, sights, food, and experiences were top notch on this trip! This is a trip I will never forget and I can't wait to go back and do it all again (and more)! Here is a summarized rundown of what we did in case you need recommendations when you visit.
Food
Goatfeathers
I put Andrew in charge of food this trip and this was the first restaurant we went to on our trip. It was the one that made it onto our must-do/to-do list. I would say we got a little adventurous here. Alright, maybe more so Andrew than me. If you want a great seafood option this is the one. The night we went there were some specials going on and Andrew took advantage of a crawfish special. It was his first time having crawfish, and they brought out two pounds of it! My version of being adventurous (since I'm not big on seafood) was trying the barbeque shrimp appetizer. To my surprise it was very good! I didn't get much of a seafood taste from it and the seasonings were amazing. I also ended up getting shrimp with my entrée, and the grilled shrimp that went with my alfredo was very delicious also. There are a few Goatfeathers in the area. Our first choice was closed, so we went to the smaller scale version. It gave off a total whole-in-the-wall vibe, but it was one of those that turns out to be a major hit!
Cowgirl Kitchen
The location for this one will draw you in as much as the food will. Located in downtown Rosemary Beach, this restaurant is perfect to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Andrew and I had their queso dip appetizer and then split a bbq chicken pizza during lunch.
Food Trucks at Seaside
(Amavida Donuts)
We checked out this cute food truck that had very yummy donuts. They didn't just have basic flavors either. They had some really fun flavors that were very good, and they had drink options as well.
(Meltdown)
This one is popular and highly recommended by many. Andrew got a Cuban grilled cheese here and absolutely loved it.
Big Chill
This was one big area with multiple restaurants of different cuisines, with an outdoor common area for gathering and eating. They had food options for everyone and it was located in a very nice area of 30a. Andrew would recommend the grouper tacos from Macho Taco.
Fun Things We Did
Bike Rentals
Something so simple as renting bikes and biking all around 30a was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. There was a bike rental shop within walking distance from where we stayed. Biking is very common in 30a, so there were plenty of trails for biking. We biked to Seaside and Watercolor, and went sightseeing.
Seaside and Rosemary Beach Markets
On Saturday mornings Seaside has market days, and Sundays in Rosemary Beach. A variety of local vendors set up shop, so we did some exploring at both.
Grabbed Coffee/Ice-cream
After dinner one night we went for ice-cream at Blue Mountain Creamery. They had so many good flavors. I got birthday cake, while Andrew got banana pudding.
One morning we also grabbed coffee to drink while walking around the market. Amavida was the coffee shop we visited, but there were a handful in the area.
Beach Time
Santa Rosa Beach was where we did our beaching. This beach was so much quieter than beaches I have been to in the past. A much calmer, upscale beach. Andrew and I were actually very shocked by how peaceful and quiet it was considering it was spring break week for so many.
Went For A Stroll / Checked Out Some Shops
In the areas we biked to, we explored the area on foot as well. There are so many great stores, boutiques, and book stores in the area. There's a lot to see along 30a.
Things We Hope To Do Next Visit
Every time we visit 30a, we always come up with and find more and more things to see and do. Here are some of the things that are on our list for next time.
Beachy Bean- A cute coffee shop that we have passed by a few times and haven't had the chance to visit yet.
The Pointe- We tried to visit this one on our last two trips, but it has been busy or closed each time we've tried to check it out. It's a happening spot! We hope to have drinks on the rooftop next trip!
