Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring

One of the most memorable trips I have ever been on and a place I one day hope to visit again. Devil's Den is a spring and some describe it like a pool within a cave. It is located in Williston, Florida and offers scuba diving and snorkeling options inside. I found this place on Pinterest a few years back and brought the idea of visiting to Andrew. Andrew and I visited in August of 2018 right after we got engaged. From where we live it was a fairly long drive for us, but it was 100% worth it. When we went we snorkeled and had so much fun. The water was crystal clear and appeared super blue. Inside the spring you get to swim around with a few fish and the occasional turtle.

I'm sure when you hear the word spring you think, how cold is the water? They say the temperature of the water remains 72 degrees year round at Devil's Den. When they first told me that when we arrived and were getting our snorkeling gear, I thought, oh that's not cold at all. Wrong. As soon as my feet touched the water I was cold. However, once I fully submersed myself underwater and swam around for a bit my body adjusted to the temperature. Don't let the water temperature scare you away!

While we were there I got some great photos and videos thanks to my GoPro. I recommend bringing a device like this to capture the natural beauty of the spring. If you do not have any type of equipment to do so, the gift shop offers waterproof bags and cases for phones (I think these options are a little bit risky but wanted to offer that bit of information nevertheless). The area around the spring is also very beautiful. There are picnic areas outside and so many other sights to see. Make sure you take a peek into the cave from the top.
